Why Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a Science

Why Ayurveda ? Ayurveda is a Science. It is a complete and holistic science that quite simple means the Art of Living. We have forgotten in the modern day how to live. We rush, stress, eat the wrong food, consume, and often are fatigued, undernourished and unsatisfied. In order to remember how to live gracefully, nourished, grounded and satiated, Ayurveda offers us a precise, individual and thorough system that addresses all our needs. This is not just about food, this is about healing all aspects of ourselves. However, in Ayurveda we start with food and routine. Why? Because one of the most useful diagnostic tools we have to find out how we really are is to look at the food on our plate. Our relationship with food indicates our relationship not only with Ourselves but with Life itself. In order to take the first step on the healing ladder, we change how and what we eat. Ayurveda does not follow the "one diet fits all" idea. It looks at a person as a unique individual and recommends food based on the person, not some broad nutritional guidelines that often do not take into account our individual needs. Ayurvedic theory is profoundly useful in analyzing the individual's needs and treatment requirements. Through what are seemingly simple food and routine changes, we pave way for deeper and lasting healing. From this stable and grounded place, we then have the time, energy, and enthusiasm to explore all the other aspects of ourselves. Ayurveda gives us the Foundation to truly be all of who we are.

Ayurvedic Consultation

Why have an Ayurvedic Consultation?

Ayurveda states that each one of us is born an individual and unique Constitution. If we accept and understand our Constitution and make choices that support our Constitution, we will experience health and balance. If we are unaware of our Constitution and lead a lifestyle that is opposing to our Nature, we will experience imbalance. An Ayurvedic consultation will help you Discover your Constitution and if any imbalances have taken root. A second reason to have a consultation is Ayurveda's distinct approach to nutrition. Western nutrition and Ayurvedic Nutrition have many differences. Western nutrition gives broad sweeping recommendations based on the analysis of food. Ayurveda asks the questions; how does the food affect you as a person and can you digest the food? One of the greatest advantages of Ayurveda is that it includes in its treatment recommendations, the treatment of Agni. Agni is the Sankrit word for fire and refers to our digestive fire. If we have a strong Agni, we will digest, transform and assimilate all of our food. If our Agni is weak or imbalanced we will not be able to digest our food and we will be essentially creating toxic waste on a daily basis. A person may have the most supposedly correct "nutritional" diet out there, however if you do not treat and care for your Agni and a daily basis, toxins will accumulate and cause many of the modern day symptoms we are experiencing today. An Ayurvedic Consultation will help you Learn about your Constitution, but also guidelines for treating your digestive fire, which is imperative in order to experience lasting health. Consultations also include individual food recommendations and recommendations on lifestyle, routine, exercise, water, herbal therapy, abhyanga, and yoga.
Ayurveda truly Empowers us on all levels to maintain balance between mind, heart, body and soul.

Ayurvedic Treatment

Why have an Ayurvedic Treatment?

Ayurveda states the Human Body is composed of the three Doshas: Pitta, Kapha and Vata. Health is measured by how balanced the Doshas are in our body and to each other. An Ayurvedic Treatment treats all three Doshas , but most importantly it directly treats Vata Dosha. Vata Dosha is the most important Dosha to treat because it governs the other two and controls all functions of the body. In Ayurveda we use both touch and oil to pacify and Heal Vata Dosha. If Vata Dosha is balanced the person will begin to Reconnect to themselves and others in a more powerful way. Snehan is Sanskrit for both oil and love and is the foundation of all Ayurvedic treatments. Snehan(oil massage) enhances neurotransmitter production, reduces stress hormones, increases the overall sense of being loved and cared for, and directly treats Vata Dosha. You will experience hands on intimate care that calms Vata Dosha as well as the added benefits of removal of toxins from the body, increase in endurance and stability, improves the quality and tone of the skin, slows the ageing process and improves sleep!
